[Updated] Officials from the Department of Environmental Protection are presently on Front Street this afternoon [Sept 4] after a large bee swarm was found opposite the Beach Restaurant.
The bees are, at present, located in a tree and plans are being made to remove them. Further details are limited at this time, however we have asked officials for additional information and will update as able.
Update 3.55pm: A Government spokesperson said, “At lunchtime today an agricultural officer from the Department of Environmental Protection was informed of a swarm of bees near the #6 shed on Front Street.
“The officer then immediately called a local beekeeper who, shortly after, arrived at the location and removed the swarm. The bees were taken to one of the beekeeper’s apiaries [bee yards] where they are now settling into their new hive.”
