The UK has a responsibility to stop developing and using chemicals that kill wildlife and threaten people’s health.
In 2013, working with others, the Soil Association helped to achieve a temporary EU wide ban of the neonicotinoid pesticides that have been poisoning UK pollinators, soils and water sources. But we need to act NOW to secure a permanent ban and I want to invite you to join usto help us achieve this.
For only £2.50 per month you can help ensure we have the resources to continue to campaign for this vital policy change.
We have shocking evidence that shows traces of these harmful chemicals can remain in our soil for up to 7 years after use. Our Policy Team continue to inform the political decision makers on the dangers these pesticides represent, supporting our case with scientific evidence – all in the face of opposition from the chemical companies behind these products.
We believe a permanent ban is the only way we can protect the future of the UK’s pollinators and wildlife. Can we count on your support of our work to secure a more natural and organic future for us all?
Please take a moment to find out more about our campaign against these pesticides, and our search for healthier alternatives, and join us today. If you've already taken action to support the campaign, thank you, together we can make damaging pesticides a thing of the past. I look forward to updating you on our progress and success.
Yours sincerely
Peter Melchett, Policy Director
P.S. Last week saw the launch of the Government’s National Pollinator Strategy, a step forward, and we are delighted that the Government recognises the important role that organic farming can play in saving pollinators – but they have not changed their position on neonicotinoids, so we still have a lot of work to do.
